Reference section:

Lithology and Thickness

It consists of metamorphosed argillaceous slates and sandstones, containing large bodies of massive light reef limestones, as well as interlayers and lenses of conglomerates, greenstone-altered diabases and porphyrites. The quantitative ratios between these rocks are variable. The incomplete thickness of the suite is 1500 m.

Lithology Pattern:
Clayey sandstone

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

The contacts of the suite are tectonic.

Upper contact

The contacts of the suite are tectonic.

Regional extent

It is widespread in the eastern part of the Karakul district.

Age

Middle Permian. It is mentioned that it is attributed to the Permian system. Therefore, it is represented in Middle Permian for schematic stratigraphic column purpose. The Karachim Fm (карачимская свита) is conditionally referred to the Permian system, only based on some similarity of the rocks with the formations of the Jingadzhir Fm (джингаджирской Свиты) of the Karachatyrsko-Murgab horizons, which is emphasized by the presence in both suites of large bodies of light limestones. E. Ya. Leven and A. Kh. Kafarskii (1965) conditionally refer the Karachim Fm to the Lower Carboniferous based on the comparison of it with the greenstone formations of the Fortambek Fm and Devlokhan Fm (фортамбекской и девлоханской свит) of Tournaisian and Visean ages.
